ITAM Professor Amrita Bahri Receives Recognition from the American Society of International Law

Professor Amrita Bahri, a faculty member in ITAM's Department of Law, has been recognized by the American Society of International Law (ASIL) with a Certificate of Merit in a specialized category of international law for her work on trade agreements and women, published by Oxford University Press.

The award was announced during the activities of the American Society of International Law, which held its 120th Annual Meeting from April 22–25, 2026, in Washington, D.C., under the theme Advancing and Defending the Rule of Law. As part of the meeting, the Society honored the recipients of its editorial awards.

A Career Dedicated to International Economic Law

Professor Bahri specializes in international economic law and international trade law. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at ITAM, is Co-Chair of the WTO Chair Programme Mexico, and works as a Trade and Gender Consultant for the International Trade Centre. Her scholarship has helped broaden the conversation on the relationship between international trade, inclusion, gender equality, and social impact.

This recognition highlights the significance of her research in a field that is becoming increasingly important for international law and for the study of contemporary trading systems.
