Edna Aguirre, ITAM alumna, won first place in the prize for the best thesis in the Master's program in International History at CIDE.

We congratulate Edna Aguirre, alumna of the International Relations Undergraduate Program at ITAM, won the first place award in the prize for the best thesis in the Master’s program in International History (2022-2024) at CIDE, thanks to her outstanding thesis titled “Antinational neighborhoods: historical analysis of Okinawan identity during the U.S. occupation (1945-1972).” 

Her work reflects a deep interest for academic research, focusing on issues like east asian geopolitics, the history of international relations and the construction of national identities. Likewise, she has specialized in Japanese social and cultural history during the 20th century, with a particular focus in the use of literary sources like primary analysis tools. 

Recently, Edna was accepted as an associate member of the prestigious Latin American Association of Asian and African Studies, which reinforces her commitment with academic excellence. Currently, she also performs like director of the Kids & Us School of English Mexico campus, combining her passion for education and research.
