We congratulate Regina García Cuéllar, alumna of the Economics Undergraduate Program at ITAM, for her recent appointment as the general director of the Mexican Bank Association (ABM). This appointment marks a historic event, since it is the first time that a woman has been appointed to this important role since the foundation of this organism in 1928.
With over 25 years of experience in key sectors, like banking, health, energy and telecommunications, Regina has led strategic projects and has been a pillar in digital transformation for the Client Experience in Citibanamex. Also, she has held leadership roles, such as Coordinator of Advisors to the Secretary of the Treasury and Public Credit Ministry [Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público]. Her focus is innovation and management of complex projects that have consolidated her as an affluent leader in the financial sector.
Throughout her career, Regina held key roles in organizations like IZZI Telecom, Citibanamex, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and the Secretary of the Treasury and Public Credit Ministry (SHCP). She has also held the role of Co-President of 50/50 Women on Boards Mexico and has been a board member in important business groups, reaffirming her commitment with gender equality and leadership in the corporate world.
Currently, she also presides over Mexico at Harvard Foundation A.C. and has a masters and doctorate in Economics by Harvard University.
This appointment is an acknowledgement of her distinguished and broad professional trajectory, consolidating her role as an affluent leader in Mexico’s financial sector.
