
ITAM and EPIC Lab congratulate the EPIC entrepreneurial team, formed by Jayat Elena González Palomeras, student of Actuarial Science and Applied Mathematics at ITAM, Joel González Gómez, Economics graduate at ITAM, and Ana Sofía Hillman, Food Engineer at Universidad Iberoamericana, for being the winners of the ILAN 2022 University Innovation Award.
The University Innovation Award is promoted by ILAN Foundation - Israel + Latin American Network - which seeks to create links between Israel and Latin American countries, recognizing and promoting ideas and opportunities for innovation with social impact, designed by college students.
The EPIC entrepreneurial team founded Propel Foods, a foodtech company powered by Artificial Intelligence that creates hybrid proteins and plant-based foods. The team will receive the Shimon Peres trophy on November 16.

About Propel Foods
Propel Foods is a Mexican foodtech company powered by Artificial Intelligence that creates hybrid proteins and plant-based foods. Propel Foods can replicate traditional food research and development processes with higher quality and speed, leveraging artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling to determine optimal food formulations taking into account cost-effectiveness, nutritional value, carbon footprint and other constraints. The project started during the Hult Prize 2021 competition, an initiative in which they were global winners.
