On february 29th, Rocío Palafox, alumna of the Accounting Undergraudate Program, was honored with the distinctive Accountant's Award. This awards seeks to highlight the outstanding career paths of the alumni of the Accounting and Financial Strategy Undergraduate Programs. 

During this event, Rocio shares some of her experiences, emphasizing the importance of her ITAM education. According to her, the solid preparation and basis provided by ITAM have been fundamental to opening the doors of big companies and filling important positions. She noted the curiosity, disposition and desire to learn as key factors for her professional growth and stay in several companies, achieving management positions. 

Rocio also shared the significant challenge of adapting to a work environment primarily designed for men. She even mentioned having participated in traditional male activities, like golf, to join in. She recognized the positive progress in the integration of women in the work place, but she also pointed out much remains to be done, specially in the access to directive positions. 

Furthermore, she pointed out the challenge of motherhood and work. As a conclusion she noted the importance of accountants in several company, academic and public matters. Sharing some examples of how accounting decisions impact the company’s success and the importance of their role in financial, fiscal and regulatory decision making. At the end, she shared her deep pride of being an Accountant from ITAM.
