On monday march 6th King Felipe VI awarded Agustín Carstens, alumnus of the Economics program at ITAM, with the King of Spain Economic Prize, due to his relevance and influence in the economic policies in Iberoamerica.
The event was held at the Bank of Spain, in Madrid. This award is considered one of the most relevant in economic matter, being awarded to those with an outstanding career in economics.
Carstens is the current General Manager at Bank for International Settlements, position he has held since december 2017. Formerly he acted as governor at Bank of Mexico between 2010 and 2017. Also, he held the position of Secretary of Treasury and Public Credit from 2006 to 2009.
