During the month of march, the Economic Studies Center at Colegio de Mexico awards the Victor L. Urquidi Prize, with which the best papers related to economic issues of interest to Mexico are recognized.
In this year's edition, the first place award went to the paper “Internal Migration and Drug Violence in Mexico”, by Aurora Alejandra Ramírez Álvarez, alumna of the Economics undergraduate program and of the Economic Theory master’s program at ITAM; Lorenzo R. Aldeco Leo, alumnus of the Economics undergraduate program and of the Economic Theory master’s program at ITAM and José Jurado from Carnegie Mellon University.
Additionally, the second place award went to the paper “Eye-opening products: Uncertainty and surprise in cataract surgery outcome“, by Adrián Rubli, Emilio Gutiérrez y José Tudón, full time professors at the Departments of Administration and Economics at ITAM.
