The Citibanamex Economics Award objective is to recognize the innovative research on Mexico’s economic issues.

Congratulations to the alumni, winners of the 2021 Citibanamex Economics Award research level.

First Place 

The team was formed by Ari Bronsoler, alumnus of the undergraduate programs of Economics and Mathematics and of the masters program on Economic Theory; Enrique Seira Bejarano, alumnus of the undergraduate program of Economics and professor of the Department of Economics and Jonathan Gruber. 

Title: Can the Private Health Sector Add Value? An experiment in Mexico.

Second Place 

The team was formed by  Enrique Seira Bejarano, alumnus of the undergraduate program of Economics and professor of the Department of Economics; Shaun David McRae professor of the Department of Economics and Lucas W. Davis.

Title: The competitive effects of the entry of mexican gas stations into the unregulated market.

Honorable Mention

The team was formed by Enrique Eugenio Bátiz Zuk, alumnus of the undergraduate program of Economics and the masters program in Finance and Jose Luis Lara Sanchez, alumnus of the undergraduate programs of Actuarial Sciences and Mathematics and of the masters program on Economic Theory.

Title: Reconsidering the relation between systemic risk and competition based on the interbank network and exposures theory.  

We also congratulate the alumni winners of the 2021 Citibanamex Economics Award, undergraduate degree thesis level.

Esteban Agustín González Luna, alumnus of the undergraduate program of Economics and of the masters program in Applied Economics.

Title: Analysis on the impact of the economic cycle in the job market indicators within socio demographic groups in Mexico 

Second Place 

Jose Herrera Juárez, alumnus of the undergraduate program of Economics and of the masters program in Applied Economics.

Title: The trap of informality and unemployment: Persistence and hysteresis in the mexican job market. 

Honorable Mention 

The team was formed by  Enrique Eugenio Bátiz Zuk, alumnus of the undergraduate program of Economics and the masters program in Finance and Jose Luis Lara Sanchez, alumnus of the undergraduate programs of Actuarial Sciences and Mathematics and of the masters program on Economic Theory.

The papers for both categories (undergraduate degree thesis and research) are evaluated by members of the jury (secretaries of state, central bank, public and private universities, private companies) .
