Dr. Alejandro Werner Wainfeld will assume the position of director on the Board of Directors of the banking institution group BBVA as of November, after being approved by the shareholders' meeting.

Dr. Werner has a degree in Economics from ITAM and a PhD in the same specialty from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund. Likewise, he has served as Undersecretary of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico between December 2006 and August 2010. He has also served as Head of BBVA Corporate and Investment Banking and as Director of Economic Studies at Banco de México.
