Arely Gómez González sworn in as Mexico’s attorney general

Congratulations to Arely Gómez González, who earned an ITAM certificate in a course on injunctive relief trials, for being sworn in as head of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) on March 3 after her appointment was ratified by the Senate with the backing of 106 senators from the PRI, PAN, PRD and PVEM parties.
 
She served as a law clerk of the first chamber of the nation’s prosecutorial court and as a law clerk for the Supreme Court’s second chamber as well as for the president of the Supreme Court and for the Federal Judiciary Council from 2003 to 2004. From 2007 to 2010 she led the specialized prosecutorial office handling electoral crimes (FEPADE) in the Attorney General’s Office.
 
As a senator, she was president of the Committee to Guarantee Information Access and Transparency, and she was a member of other committees, such as the one on Constitutional Issues.
 
She earned an undergraduate degree in law from Universidad Anáhuac and a master’s degree in public policy from the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales. She also took a judicial specialization course at the Federal Judiciary Institute.
