In 1990, the Mexican Statistical Association (AME) established an award for the best theses on the subject. In 1991, this award was given the name "Francisco Aranda Ordaz" as a posthumous recognition of the prestigious Mexican statistician Francisco Aranda Ordaz (1951-1991). We are deeply proud that the students Fernando Antonio Zepeda Herrera, Mauricio Villanueva Domínguez and Alejandro Olaya Gómez have subsequently won the first three places of the National Statistics Award for the best undergraduate theses of the years 2018-2021.

Fernando Antonio Zepeda is a graduate of the Bachelor of Actuary and the Bachelor of International Relations. Likewise, he received first place for his thesis entitled: "Batesian analysis of the social configurations of the Front National in the 2012 presidential elections" under the academic supervision of Luis Enrique Nieto Barajas.

In second place, the winner was the student Mauricio Villanueva Domínguez, a graduate of the Bachelor of Actuarial Science and the Bachelor of Applied Mathematics. He was awarded the prize for the thesis: "Bitcoin price bubble analysis under a log-periodic model with AR-GARCH error term" under the academic supervision of C. Vladimir Rodríguez Caballero.

The student Alejandro Olaya Gómez is a graduate of the Bachelor of Actuary and won third place for the thesis: "Characterization of groups with non-parametric Bayesian models" under the supervision of Luis Enrique Nieto Barajas.

We reiterate the pride of our community for having such distinguished and brilliant members. Congratulations!!
