Congratulations to Jorge Enrique Paniagua Trujillo, alumnus of our undergraduate program in economics, for winning first place in the XXVII National Tlacaelel Economic Consultancy Contest (2014-2016).  It is awarded every two years to the best undergraduate thesis in economics in Mexico. He also received third place in the National Public Finances Contest of 2016 awarded by the Center for Studies of Public Finances of the House of Representatives as well as Mention of Honor in the ITAM alumni Research Contest.

His thesis “Valuation of Petrol Extraction Contracts utilizing Simulation Algorithms and Stochastic Optimatization” involves in applying the Real Option Theory to the valuation of oil extraction projects under the new legal and fiscal framework established by the Energy Reform. It will also implement financial models utilizing information included in future crude oil contract prices to select the exact moment to invest in the development of the oil field as well as to analyze its implications to public finance.
