Congratulations to Irene Espinosa Cantellano, our alumnus of the undergraduate program in economics and the master program in public policy for her appointment as Vice Governor of Banco de México. She thus becomes the first woman to fill this position in the Board of Directors of Mexico’s Central Bank.

Her professional achievements include teaching economics and public policy at ITAM, and serving from 2001 to 2007 as the Exective Director for Mexico and Dominician Republic of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Since 2007, she joined the Treasury, until becoming the highest-ranking official in that institution. Last year, she was an invited speaker in our conference “The inclusion of women, a sound international practice to increase profitability”. During her presentation, “International Evidence Supporting The Numbers,” she provided evidence on the economic benefits of the inclusion of women in high-ranking corporate jobs.
